Inkspell is a reading companion for long books you already own. You upload an EPUB from your own shelf and Inkspell rebuilds the book around you — every character, place, faction and artifact, the relationships between them, the arc each person is travelling, and a story-so-far recap for the exact chapter your bookmark sits on. Everything it shows is generated against that chapter and stops there, so it cannot spoil what you have not reached. Move the bookmark forward and more appears.
It exists because the honest alternative is a fan wiki, and a wiki is organised by the finished plot. Looking up a name you have forgotten on page 400 of an epic means walking past the ending to find it. Inkspell is the same lookup without that cost.
It is not a bookstore, and there is no catalogue inside it. Inkspell does not sell, lend, supply or host books — the reader brings the file, and it must be a book they already own. This is the single most common misunderstanding about the product, so it is stated plainly here rather than left to be discovered.
It is not a summary service either. Inkspell does not shorten a book or stand in for reading it; the recaps exist to get you back into a story you are in the middle of, not to get you out of finishing it. It is not an audiobook reader, not a translator, and not a text-to-speech tool.
Inkspell requires a membership. There is a seven-day free trial and no free tier: without a membership you can open the app, see your library and your book details, but the companion, the sagas, search and adding books wait until you subscribe. Nothing is deleted when a membership lapses — your library, every book slot you have accrued or purchased, and every purchased Ink Drop all stay exactly where they are, and reopen the moment you subscribe again.
Inkspell is an independent product. You read on Android, through Google Play; this domain, theinkspell.com, is its marketing site. One privacy policy and one set of terms cover both the app and this site — they are kept as a single document rather than duplicated here, because two copies of a policy drift and the contradiction is the problem.
